Julie Anne Maddern (some of you may know her as Julie White) crafts a compelling narrative exploring life, faith, and Christ’s teachings. Preparing for her debut, she invites readers to engage with her insightful storytelling and spiritual reflections.

Julie Anne Maddern is the eldest of four daughters born to the much-loved British character actor Victor Maddern, whose career spanned theatre, film, and television across four decades. Growing up in a household shaped by storytelling, observation, and a keen eye for the human condition, it is perhaps no surprise that Julie developed a lifelong habit of watching the world carefully and writing down what she found there.

For 55 years, Julie worked as a hairdresser, a career that brought her into daily, intimate contact with people from all walks of life. Her salon became, in her own words, something of a village confessional: a place where people shared their hopes, their worries, their faith, and their doubts. It was there, scribbled on envelopes and scraps of paper between appointments, that the seeds of Candlelight were first gathered.

Julie always believed that a life had to be properly lived before it could be honestly written about. She wanted to accumulate experience first, of love, loss, faith, family, and the quiet wisdom that only time can bring. Candlelight, her debut work, is the result of seven years of gathering those thoughts into something she hopes will speak to others navigating the same questions.
